Ryan Shepheard (born 4 July 1977) is an Australian association football referee who currently officiates in the A-League. He holds a FIFA Futsal badge.
Shepheard began his refereeing career by officiating matches in the Manly Warringah Football Association, a grassroots league based on Sydney's Northern Beaches. After great success in refereeing Premier League matches in the MWFA, Shepheard was offered the opportunity to ply his trade in the NSW Premier League. After taking to the centre circle numerous times, his steady hand and control over the game saw him become recognised by the A-League officials and he was given the opportunity to take charge of Hyundai A-League matches. Shepheard made his A-League debut during the 2009-10 season, on 11 October, when he officiated the Central Coast Mariners v North Queensland Fury game at Bluetounge Stadium.[1]
He was awarded a FIFA Futsal Referee Badge in 2009[2]
Shepheard also officiates Futsal matches.
Whilst refereeing in the A-League he also still contributes to his grassroots beginnings and serves as a member of the MWFA's refereeing board, the MWFRA where he offers coaching to young referees. He also coaches in the MWFA, most recently with the Manly Vale Women's AL1 side.
